Our Story
King’s Cross Church is a daughter church of Pacific Crossroads Church in Santa Monica (PCC) and a granddaughter church of Redeemer Church NYC. For over a decade, PCC had a vision to build a network of churches planting churches both globally and throughout the city. A large group of families centered in the South Bay were commuting over thirty minutes to PCC. They began to express a desire for a more local congregation where they could invite their neighbors (who were less willing to make such a long commute to church). As a result, PCC began recruiting for a plant in the South Bay.
The Hightower family was called in 2018 to plant Pacific Crossroads Church South Bay (PCCSB), after months of preparation, and officially launched on March 31, 2019, at West High School. Almost a year later, the pandemic hit. By March 2020, PCCSB had met longer online than in person! Nonetheless, a faithful group met periodically at the beach and at the park, until we finally resumed our Sunday worship services, outdoors, at West High School in the Spring of 2021. During this time, we particularized (i.e., elected elders and officially became our own church). Eventually, in March of 2022, we moved into the beautiful space that we enjoy today: the school’s Performing Arts Center.
In June of 2022, our congregation voted to rename ourselves King’s Cross Church. It was always our intention to rename, but we chose to wait until we particularized. Although we are an independent church, we have deep roots in the PCA (Presbyterian Church in America), from which most of our doctrine and traditions come. We are part of the Redeemer City-to-City Network and members of the Gospel Coalition.
