PREPARATION FOR WORSHIP

And this is the judgment:
the light has come into the world,
and people loved the darkness rather than the light
   because their works were evil.
John 3:19

Therefore whatever you have said in the dark
shall be heard in the light,
and what you have whispered in private rooms
shall be proclaimed on the housetops.
Luke 12:3

The people who walked in darkness
    have seen a great light;
those who dwelt in a land of deep darkness,
    on them has light shone.
Isaiah 9:2

Your word is a lamp to my feet
and a light to my path.
Psalm 119:105

The spirit of man is the lamp of the Lord,
    searching all his innermost parts.
Proverbs 20:27

And I will lead the blind
in a way that they do not know,
in paths that they have not known
    I will guide them.
I will turn the darkness before them into light,
the rough places into level ground.
These are the things I do,
and I do not forsake them.
Isaiah 42:16

“All the darkness in the world cannot extinguish
the light of a single candle.”
– Francis of Assisi

“We can easily forgive a child who is afraid of
the dark; the real tragedy of life is when men are afraid of the light.”
– Plato

SONG

Hallelujah

[Verse]
My heart is overjoyed
Kingdom has finally come
I see the face of my Maker, the Father, the Son
No, I won’t walk I will run

[Chorus]
And we’ll say
You are mighty, You are Lord
No one greater than You Yahweh
All the angels, all the world singing
Halle, Hallelujah
Halle, Hallelujah
Halle, Hallelujah
And we will all bow down and worship singing
Halle, Hallelujah

[Verse]
I hear the trumpets sound
Your wonders all around
No one can question Your power, Your sovereign, Your crown
All that’s lost now is found

[Chorus]

[Verse]
Just like a thief in the night
The Son of Man shall rise
And in the blink of the eye You will crack the sky
And the dark will be light

We’ll see our majesty
That never loses sleep
Yeah we will dance, we will shout for our Savior, our King
Oh, we all will be free

[Chorus]

SONG

You’ll Come

[Verse]
I have decided, I have resolved
To wait upon You Lord
My rock and Redeemer, shield and reward
I’ll wait upon You Lord

As surely as the sun will rise
You’ll come to us
Certain as the dawn appears

[Chorus]
You’ll come
Let Your glory fall as You respond to us
Spirit rain
Flood into our thirsty hearts again
You’ll come
You’ll come

[Verse]
We are not shaken, we are not moved
We wait upon You Lord
Mighty deliverer, triumph and truth
We wait upon You Lord

As surely as the sun will rise
You’ll come to us
Certain as Your word endures

[Chorus]

[Bridge]
Chains be broken
Lives be healed
Eyes be opened
Christ is revealed

[Chorus]

SONG

Draw Me Nearer

[Verse 1]
I am Thine, O Lord, I have heard Thy voice
And it told Thy love to me
But I long to rise in the arms of faith
And be closer drawn to Thee

[Chorus]
Draw me nearer, nearer, blessed Lord
To the cross where Thou hast died
Draw me nearer, nearer, blessed Lord
To Thy precious, bleeding side

[Verse 2]
Consecrate me now to Thy service, Lord
By the power of grace divine
Let my soul look up with a steadfast hope
And my will be lost in Thine

[Chorus]

[Verse 3]
Oh, the pure delight of a single hour
That before Thy throne I spend
When I kneel in prayer, and with Thee, my God
I commune as friend with friend

[Chorus]

[Verse 4]
There are depths of love that I cannot know
‘Til I cross the narrow sea
There are heights of joy that I may not reach
‘Til I rest in peace with Thee

[Chorus]

SERMON
“Walking in the Light”

This is the message we have heard from him
   and proclaim to you,
that God is light,
and in him is no darkness at all.

If we say we have fellowship with him
   while we walk in darkness,
we lie and do not practice the truth.

But if we walk in the light, as he is in the light,
we have fellowship with one another,
and the blood of Jesus his Son
   cleanses us from all sin.
1 John 1:5-7

SONG

How Great Thou Art

[Verse 1]
O Lord my God, when I in awesome wonder
Consider all the worlds Thy hands have made
I see the stars, I hear the rolling thunder
Thy power throughout the universe displayed

[Chorus]
Then sings my soul, my Savior God, to Thee
How great Thou art, how great Thou art
Then sings my soul, my Savior God, to Thee
How great Thou art, how great Thou art!

[Verse 2]
And when I think, that God, His Son not sparing
Sent Him to die, I scarce can take it in
That on the Cross, my burden gladly bearing
He bled and died to take away my sin

[Chorus]

[Verse 3]
When Christ shall come, with shouts of acclamation
And lead me home, what joy shall fill my heart
Then I shall bow, in humble adoration
And then proclaim: “My God, how great Thou art!”

[Chorus]

BENEDICTION

“You are the light of the world.
A city set on a hill cannot be hidden.
Nor do people light a lamp
and put it under a basket, but on a stand,
and it gives light to all in the house.

In the same way,
let your light shine before others,
so that they may see your good works
and give glory to your Father who is in heaven.
Matthew 5:14-16
