HEIDELBERG CATECHISM #1, #52
1. What is your only comfort in life and in death?
A. That I, with body and soul, both in life and in death, am not my own, but belong to my faithful Savior Jesus Christ, who with his precious blood has fully satisfied for all my sins, and redeemed me from all the power of the devil; and so preserves me, that without the will of my Father in heaven not a hair can fall from my head; indeed, that all things must work together for my salvation. Wherefore, by his Holy Spirit, he also assures me of eternal life, and makes me heartily willing and ready from now on to live for him.
52. What comfort is it to you, that Christ “shall come to judge the living and the dead”?
A. That in all my sorrows and persecutions, with uplifted head, I look for the very same one, who before offered himself for me to the judgment of God, and removed all curse from me, to come as judge from heaven, who shall cast all his and my enemies into everlasting condemnation, but shall take me with all his chosen ones to himself into heavenly joy and glory.

“Ready or Not, Here I Come”
45 “Who then is the faithful and wise servant,
whom his master has set over his household,
to give them their food at the proper time?
46 Blessed is that servant whom his master will find
so doing when he comes.
47 Truly, I say to you, he will set him
over all his possessions.
48 But if that wicked servant says to himself,
‘My master is delayed,’
49 and begins to beat his fellow servants
and eats and drinks with drunkards,
50 the master of that servant will come on a day
when he does not expect him
and at an hour he does not know
51 and will cut him in pieces
and put him with the hypocrites.
In that place there will be
weeping and gnashing of teeth.
